Parent Aides

Westport Counseling Associates has parent aides who are dedicated to serving the needs of parents and children in the community for the purpose of reunification, to assist with building healthy relationships and with the goal of reaching an acceptable level of family functioning.

The duties of the parent aides are as follows:

• Assist parents by linking them to community resources as needed
• Provide transportation and oversight for supervised visits
• Make observation of parent-child interactions and provide helpful coaching and feedback
• Provide short-term, outcome focused, teaching and modeling services to families, based on individualized behavior management plans
• Provide crises intervention for children and their families as needed
• Work and communicate with referral/funding sources
• Complete all required case file documentation
• Assist parent(s) in the development of parenting and homemaking skills
• Teaching and modeling with a goal of reaching an acceptable level of family functioning and maintenance of the physical environment
